Mike Vasil

Mike and Matt were born and raised in Northern Cambria, PA, an hour outside of Pittsburgh. Mike attended Indiana University of PA and obtained a bachelors degree in accounting. He later attended Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA and obtained an MBA in business administration to further his business background. Mike previously worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 12 years and during his tenure was CFO of Altoona VA Medical Center. His experience entailed managing a multi-million dollar budget and ensuring that funds were used in the most efficient manner to treat our nation’s veterans. Mike is recognized for automating processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of data and many of the processes are utilized at various medical centers around the country. He is the father of four children with his highschool sweetheart Karin, who is an RN and also works at Heritage Hospice. He loves outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Matt attended Indiana University of PA and obtained a bachelor degree in natural sciences with a minor in chemistry. He completed his medical school training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1999 to 2003. He completed his family medicine residency at UPMC St Margarets Memorial Hospital in 2006. He has been a physician with UPMC Valley Family Medicine since 2006. He has established a flourishing practice and is regarded as a caring, compassionate and knowledgeable physician throughout the community. He now serves as Medical Director for Heritage Hospice and is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine. Matt developed an interest in hospice care as he continued to take care of terminally ill patients in his practice and felt there was need in the Pittsburgh area for a hospice company that embodied traditional values and exceptional care. He is the father of 4 children and enjoys spending time with his wife Nicole and children in addition to enjoying golfing, hunting and fishing.

While his brothers founded Heritage Hospice back home, David knew he wanted to be a part of it when he was finished with his residency at the University of Florida. His conviction was strong: He was drawn to a life of service through hospice and palliative care, as well as hospital medicine.
After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree at IUP in Biology/Pre-Medicine, David spent the next four years attending medical school at LECOM in Erie, Pa. There he received his doctorate and fulfilled his internal medicine residency at the University of Florida. David soon developed a passion for end-of-life care. He was planning on a critical care driven pathway, when his eyes were opened to what end-of-life care ultimately entailed for a lot of people: Suffering on life support, uncontrolled pain and symptoms….days and weeks spent in the hospital, away from their home and family.
Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as golfing, exercising, music and drumming.  Most of all though, he enjoys living a life devoted to God and his Christian Faith.

Tami Kelly has over 22 years experience working as a Social Worker in the Pittsburgh area in various capacities such as youth counseling and domestic violence until eventually finding her passion for hospice over 8 years ago. Tami thought she would work with children, until she was blessed with the opportunity to care for her grandfather, who had cancer, for 5 years while he lived with her.  finds it a true honor to help my patients and families prepare to say goodbye. She has held the Director of Operations role at Heritage for the last year and as a Medical Social worker with Heritage since 2012. Tami earned her Masters of Social Work from University of Pittsburgh. Tami‘s involvement in the local community begins as a life long resident of Lower Burrell where she lives with her husband, Rick and 3 children. Tami loves spending time with her family, and loves to travel, especially to the beach. She enjoys relaxing with old movies and reading on her down time. However, she doesn’t have much downtime, as her community involvement extends much deeper while she is currently serving as President of Burrell School District, Board of Directors and has been involved for the last 8 years. Over the years, Tami has been actively involved in numerous community youth programs including the Lower Burrell Flyers and Burrell Wrestling. She also attends The River-A Community Church right here in New Kensington.
